Very nice. Comfortable and peaceful. We needed some down time and this was perfect. Great place to step back and relax.
We at Everline Coatings and Services of Southwest Florida had the opportunity to do some work beautifying the parking lot at River Wilderness. We also stayed in a room they provided for us while we were doing the work. This is a top notch facility with beautiful rooms. They care about the appearance of their place, and making their guests feel welcome. Bruce is incredible to work with. 5 stars!
Beautiful cabins with amazing views! Porches overlooking the water. I was able to watch nature and enjoy the quiet! My cabin had 2 twin beds and a couch plus a small kitchen.
The only good thing about this place is the location — it’s really beautifull and peaceful by the water. But everything else was a big let down. The cabin looks like it hasn’t been updated in decades. The furnitures are old and worn out, and the bed was just horrible — lumpy, noisy, and way too soft. I could feel every spring when I tried to sleep. The sofabed wasn’t much better, totally sagging, really painful to sleep. The fridge was rusty inside and outside, and the handle felt gross. For the price we paid, this was honestly shocking. It’s way too expensive for what you get — feels more like a cheap roadside cabin than a “waterfront retreat.” It’s really a shame, because the nature around is amazing, but I wouldn’t stay here again unless they fix things up big time.
Really a great place to relax and enjoy the Everglades. Customer service is perfect. Cabins are clean. Pet friendly. Great local food. I highly recommend it to you. A nice romantic getaway.
We came here for two of nights with our children, spending more than $500 dollars for a property that was in need of serious repairs and renovations. The BBQ was completely destroyed and just left on the lawn, which doesn’t seem very safe for children that might be playing in the garden area. The hospitality was nonexistent, we were just informed via a scruffy looking sheet that we would be charged an extra $150 if we left any dishes dirty. However, there was no dishwasher and the oven looked like it had never been cleaned. The cooker in general seemed very old and the burners of the hob were moving, which again is a safety concern. Although the property looked recently painted, in general, the furniture was just extremely dated and damaged, and would need to be changed. For instance, the air conditioner in the main bedroom wasn’t working, which caused us two bad nights’ sleep. Really not what we expected at this price point!
My son and I stayed at the River Wilderness Villas last weekend, July 2025, and it was one of the best weekends we’ve ever had away from home. We arrived early, which was no problem…Tatum was the epitome of customer service. She not only checked us in early, but recommended the pool because there were children my son could play with at that moment, which my son loved. She also fixed an issue I had with Booking.com, and educated us on local wildlife. The villa was everything we needed - comfortable, beautiful, clean, safe, and across the street from a restaurant and fishing store. I watched the dolphins jump from my kitchen window. The screened porch was absolutely fabulous and bigger than expected. I will be back again, and again, and again. Thank you Tatum and thank you River Wilderness Villas! ?
I have been here a few times and every time has been wonderful. the rooms are beautiful, very clean, and offer a great view from the screened in porch of the Everglades. My wife and I bring our chihuahua down as well, as it is a pet friendly establishment. Canoes, bikes, and fishing poles are complementary and included with your stay. It is located right in the heart of Everglades City, and close to restaurants, grocery store, and gas and pretty much everything else you will need for a long weekend or a week. I cannot recommend this place enough. The owner and staff are the best and on call all the time if you have a problem. I want to add an important fact. I stayed there with my wife and dog from 6/13 to 6/15/ 2025. To just get away for a few days and have a relaxed long weekend. I unfortunately forgot my dog's Favorite toy. Actually, his only toy. He is a rescue, and the toy came with him. He won't let it out of his sight. I tried buying new toys and all of that but he doesn't even look at them. I've had him for 6 years now and he only wants the same nasty, old toy he had when I got him. Anyway, I got in contact with the owner and explained the situation and she responded. Even after I offered to pay anything for the toy's return, she sent it back to me without taking any money. That is a good person. and I can guarantee, that is the type of people who you will meet in Everglades City. I highly recommend taking a trip down and staying at River Wilderness Waterfront Villas. You will not regret it.
Cool spot for a short stay while we explored the everglades. The room and area were described well, and we had no complaints. Would definitely stay again.
My husband and I love this place. However, if you are looking for something like a Marriott or a Hilton - don't bother. These "condos" are older and can be a bit creaky. However, our place is very clean, comfortable, the staff is amazing and the kindness and generosity are what makes it feel like home away from home. If you tell one of the staff you need something or something isn't working, it's taken care of promply. The main reasons we are here -- the view from our back porch of the Barron River and the Everglades. Truly spectacular at sunrise!! And the friendships we've found.
